Our precious Mama, Rachel Silva, passed into the home of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was a warrior - faithful and strong. She gave her best all the way to the end as she battled Stage 4 endometrial cancer for almost two years. Mama carried the light of the Lord and she shared it with everyone she came in contact with. As her children, we were blessed to be raised by such a wonderful mother.
She graduated with a BS in Sociology from Howard Payne University, worked for Sodexo on campus and carried a deep love for her co-workers and the students and staff she interacted with every day. After graduation, she became a licensed Social Worker and found great fulfillment in serving others during their most difficult times.
We would like to acknowledge Dr. Hirsch and his lovely team of nurses at the Walker Cancer Center for their care. They gave Mama dignity and grace in the midst of an uncertain and often time tumultuous challenge. We love them dearly and know they give her their absolute best.
She was laid to rest at Cedar Point Cemetery following a private ceremony with her immediate family. She was interred with her youngest son, Daniel Silva.
She is survived by her husband Ramon Silva Sr.;her children, Carol Silva Moralez, Sandra Silva and Raymond Silva Jr. and their significant others; and her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers or cards, we would ask you make/donate a goodie bag for a cancer patient at the Walker Cancer Center. She received a few of these throughout her treatment and it lifted her spirits every time. We would love it if others would receive these in her honor.
