Berlyn De Traver Ladyman, 79, died Aug. 27, 2017, in Leander, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.

De Traver was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Lottie Ladyman.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Whittington of Leander; his children, Abby Turner, also of Leander, Richard Altstatt of Lufton Virginia, and Dr. Daniel Altstatt of Brownwood; his sister and her husband, Kay and Joe Whittington of San Antonio; aunt Katherine Dellinger of Antlers, Oklahoma; and his nine beloved grandchildren, Rachel Hargrove, Zach Turner, Alisan Turner, Nick Altstatt, Ashlyn Turner, Sharlene Munoz, Nathan Altstatt, Alyssa Altstatt, and Dyani Altstatt.

De Traver was born in Hugo, Oklahoma and grew up in Phillips. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. He was a Naval lieutenant and served in Vietnam. De Traver had a successful sales career and after retiring became a high school history teacher. Sally and De Traver married in May of 1980. He loved Texas, reading, and history. De Traver enjoyed horseback riding, football and time with his grandkids. He was a devoted husband and a loving grandfather.

There will be a private family graveside service in Antlers, Oklahoma on Wednesday, Aug. 30. In lieu of flowers make donations to (hospice care).
