COLEMAN — Funeral services for John William Holtz II, of Kaufman, and former long-time resident of Coleman, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Elm Street of Christ in Coleman with Tim Baugh officiating, assisted by Paul Hodnett and Bob Martin. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at his residence.
He was born June 27, 1927 in Coleman to John and Amanda Tomlinson Holtz. He joined the United States Marine Corps at the end of World War II. On Sept. 12, 1946, he married Dorica Meador in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Dorcia Holtz of Kaufman; two daughters, Pam Rountree and husband Mike of Fort Worth, and Shelley Holtz of Odessa; one son, J.B. Holtz and wife Pam of Kaufman; six brothers and sisters, Dorothy Yates of Pensacola, Florida, Mae White of Eastland, Fay Hall of Appalachia, New York, Patsy Burnet and husband Ken of Eastland, Olen Holtz and wife Nita of Abilene, R.L. Holtz and wife Lyna of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Hazel Field, Grace Griffin, Mary Brown, and infant sister Odessa Holtz; two step-sisters, Louise Leone, and Frankie Ayers; 11 brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
