Funeral services for Sue King, 89, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. King passed from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Tommie Sue Holmes was born on Aug. 28, 1928 in Santa Anna to Kate Luthine (Hill) and Tomey Holmes of Whon. She graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1947. She married Cecil King on October 13, 1951 in Brownwood. Sue worked for the Texas Youth Commission for 23 years before her retirement in 1993.

Sue is survived by two daughters, Celia Ann King of Brownwood and Susan Kay King of Arlington; two step-daughters, Linda King Eoff and husband Chick of May and Beverly King Slone and husband Danny of Amarillo; step-son, Jerry King and wife Judy of Amarillo; nephew, Bill King and wife Nancy of Early; niece Peggy King Mann and husband Tommy of Zephyr; half-nieces, Patsy Lovelady of San Antonio, Kathy Lovelady Baulch of Quemado and Lynda Lovelady Gordon of San Marcos; first cousin, Sedonia Owen of Galveston; and helpful and caring neighbors, Kathy and Bruce Martin.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Cecil King; and a half-brother, L.J. Lovelady.
