A graveside funeral service for Gene Perry, 84, of Abilene, formerly of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Perry passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 in an Abilene care facility.

Eugene Warren Perry was born on Oct. 2, 1933 in Brown County to Columbus Locke and Alice K. (Brandon) Perry. He attended school at Chapel Hill. Gene married Mary Ellen Trowbridge on June 11, 1955. He later married Janice McKensie in 1979. He worked for over 20 years for Brownwood Regional Medical Center in housekeeping before retiring in 1996. He was a lifelong resident of Brownwood and member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Gene is survived by a daughter, Jo Ellis and husband Keith of Abilene; a son, Jerry G. Perry of Comanche; and two step-daughters, Sandra Ellis of Arizona and Rhonda Lucero of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Perry ;and two daughters, Alice L. Elliott and Joyce Perry.
