Funeral services for Penny Lee Brown, 75, of Early, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at First Baptist Church in Munday. Interment was held at Johnson Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

She passed away Dec. 23, 2017.

She was born Jan. 2, 1942 in Knox County to Lee Alfred and Eula Mae Parks.

Penny was a very strong and independent woman. She loved her family, friends and most of all the Lord above. Other than being committed to her work and family, she loved her church, singing in the choir. She enjoyed going to the farm, riding horses with Stanton and she loved keeping him in line.

Penny is survived by her husband, Stanton Brown of Early; children, Wayne Melton of Waco, Johnny Melton of Dublin, Doug Brown and fiance Niki of Teague and Shari Brown of Brownwood; grandchildren, Brandon Melton and wife Jill, Presley Johnson and husband Thomas, Paytlyn Melton, Coleton Brown and fiance Noelle, Haley Brown, Kallie Brown, Grayson Holcomb and Piper Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Tate Melton, Kempson Burns, Kalvin Williams, Parker Johnson and Braxton Brown; three sisters, Polly Decker, Peggy Urbanczyk and husband Buddy and Patsy Guffey; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Penny's name to the Alzheimer Association of First Baptist Church in Munday.
