Lynda Kathryn Mercier Thomas, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, in Burnet. Lynda was born Aug. 10, 1938, to Mary Kay Dixon and Vincent James Mercier in Pratt, Kansas. While a nursing student at the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, she met and married her husband of 59 years, Harry Negus Thomas.
Lynda was a beloved mother of four, a fantastic “cooker”, and was involved in many local organizations in Brownwood throughout her life. Lynda was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she cherished being part of the Altar Guild. She especially enjoyed her family, reading, and following the Texas Ranger baseball team.
Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Negus Thomas.
She is survived by her children, Wesley Otto Thomas and wife, Chris; Deborah Lynn Johnson and husband, Will; Michael Brooke Thomas and wife, Deana; Patrick Vincent Thomas and wife, Tina; her grandchildren, Gabriel Wesley Thomas, Eric Valliant Thomas, Parker Thomas Johnson, Nathanael Thomas Johnson, Lynda Kathryn Johnson, Sarah Ellen Calfee and husband, Clay; Aaron Michael Thomas and wife, Addie Jane; Kelsea Marie Gauthier and husband, Harrison, and Hunter Travis Thomas; great-grandchildren, Vincent Jay Thomas, Culley Thomas Calfee, and Kinley Anne Gauthier; brother, Michael Mercier, sister Betsy Turner, and sister-in-law, Joanie Thomas; nieces and nephews, Tony and Pam Thomas, Kathy and Mark Campbell, Bettina Turner Spanios, and Greg Turner; and nine Godchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Brownwood with the Reverend Michael Mobley officiating.
