COMANCHE — Funeral services for James W. Holland, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
He died Friday, March 16, 2018 in Comanche.
He was born Dec. 6, 1930 in Comyn to L.G. Holland Sr. and Craig Beatrice Dry. On June 26, 1954, he married Barbara Joyce Kirkland in Comanche County. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and served from 1951 through 1954 during the Korean War. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Comanche; three sons, Weldon and wife Nancy of Comanche, Dan and wife Jenifer of Comanche, and Ernest and wife Elaine of Bixby, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Staci Pruitt and husband Kody of Maryland, Shawna Pettit and husband Jason of Abilene, Jerrod Holland and wife Shea of Bandera, Justin Holland and wife Amanda of Comanche, Jeremy Holland of Comanche, Joshua Holland and wife Allison of Florida, Leah Holland of Oklahoma, and Ellisa Holland of Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Will Pettit, Weston Pettit, Kade Pruitt, Brenden Holland, Bailey Holland, Brayton Holland, Hudson Holland, Hayes Holland, and Caiden Smith; three brothers, Orville Holland and wife Wilda of Cross Plains, L.G. Holland Jr. and wife Kay of Henderson, and Richard Holland and wife Mary of Comanche; one sister; Ann Cartwright and husband Don of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randall Holland; and three sisters, Lilla Pipkin of New Mexico, LaRue Hudson of Greenville, and Frances Fields of Comanche.
