LAKE BROWNWOOD - John M. Wood, formerly of Odessa, went to be with our Lord on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018. He was at peace and ready to go!

John Michael Wood was born July 17, 1953 in San Tome', Venezuela to Kessler and Lucille Wood. He married Brandy McHaney on March 1,1997 in Odessa. Johnny spent all of his adult life (17 to 60) working in oilfields all over the world mostly as a core engineer. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Odessa and Crossroads, Lake Brownwood.

Johnny loved life, his family and Jesus. Mr. Wood fought the good fight and when it was time to cross the finish line, his eyes lit up and he was rejoicing because Jesus was coming to take him home. It is well with our souls!

Johnny is survived by his wife of 22 years, Brandy Wood of Lake Brownwood; one son, Jason Wood and wife Heather; one step-son Brad Hetzler; grandchildren, Kaitlin Parker and her husband Everett, Alex Perez, Axtin Wood, Preslee Wood, Saydi Grace Wood, Samuel Hetzler, and Brantley Hetzler; great-grandchildren, Channing Parker; an uncle, Jim Rose and his wife Dyann; his sister, Patsy Stuart and her husband Thomas; brothers, Donald Wood and his wife Janice, Kessler "Sonny" Wood; and many nieces and nephews. He loved all of them dearly.

There will be a celebration of life service for Mr. John Wood scheduled after Labor Day in Odessa. Check the newspaper for a date and time. His body was donated to science to further the research for a cure for ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mr. Wood had requested that his friends and family do random acts of kindness such as buy a tank of gas or groceries for someone in need. And to spend time really loving others, doing it all in the name of Jesus! Being our Lord's hands and feet to everyone you meet!
