BRADY — Graveside services for Tom Jones Sammons Sr., 85, of Brady, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady.
He died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 in Fredericksburg.
He was born Oct. 24, 1932 in San Angelo to James Blaine Sammons Sr. and Bernice (Jones) Sammons. He married Mary Lee O'Mealy on March 3, 1956 in San Antonio. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he was a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He served as a 1st Lt. and Flight Leader of the 57th Transportation Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Sammons of Brady; sons, Tom J. Sammons Jr. and wife Luanne of Brady and Larry O. Sammons and wife Camille of Brady; daughter, Bernice Lee Washburn and husband John of Kerrville; grandchildren, Samuel Washburn, Jess Washburn, Sterling Sammons, Luke Sammons, Travis Sammons, Brandon Sammons, Patrick Sammons, Clayton Sammons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Jess Koy; and brother, James Blaine Simmons Jr.
