Deborah Gayle Adams Powell Shelton, 65, of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
She was born to the late George Adams and JoAnn Ivy on June 12, 1953.
Deborah attended grade school through high school in Rochelle before attending the LVN program as Ranger Junior College. She was an active member of the Baptist community.
She grew up spending summers and weekends with her late brother Dale Adams, late sister Elizabeth Holmes and cousin Milly Kirkland.
Deborah is survived by her son, Kenneth Powell Jr.; daughters, Kimberly Polk LeBlanc and Kally Chapa; grandchildren, Laci Jessup, Shyla Davis, Peyton Polk, Mykala Polk, and Blessing Chapa; three great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Adams; mother, Bobbie JoAnn Ivy; sister, Elizabeth Lynn Holmes; and brother, George Dale Adams.
Deborah had elected to be an organ donor and had expressed interest in donating her body to medical research upon her death. Her children chose to will her body to the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
There will be a memorial balloon release and celebration of life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Riverside Park.
The family would like to thank each and every one that went to visit during the final days. A special thank you to her caregiver, Rachel, who went above and beyond over the years and thank you for all the prayers and condolences.
