Gustavus Addison ‘Tavey' Morgan III, age, 58 of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed from this life on Friday, July 29, 2011, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church of Santa Anna, with Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family will received friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday, at Henderson Funeral Home.

Gus was born Feb. 6, 1953, in Tacoma Park, Maryland, to the late Gustavus Addison Morgan Jr. and Cora LaRue Curry Morgan. He was a 1972 graduate of Santa Anna High School and graduated from the University of Texas El Paso in 2002 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Gus served his country with the U.S. Army continuing his service with the National Guard and retiring in 1997. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in July 2006 after 28 years of employment and received the 1996 Governor's Productivity Suggestion Award for completing a study on electro-magnet compatibility for tactical communications. He worked for the consulting firm HNTB from 2006 until his death. On Dec. 14, 1972, Gus was married to Eva Kay McCarrell and they later divorced. He was married to Cynthia Chance O'Neill on March 13, 2004, and they have celebrated seven years of marriage.

Survivor include his wife, Cynthia O'Neill Morgan of Salt Lake City, Utah; former wife, Eva Kay McCarrell; daughter, Stephanie Kay Morgan; son, Gustavus Addison Morgan IV (aka Kyle Jason McCarrell); two step-sons, Sean Michael O'Neill and Jeffrey William O'Neill; step-grandson, Owen Patrick O'Neill; brother, David and wife Pam Morgan; sister-in-law, Michelle Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

Gus was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Morgan in 2010.
