Funeral services for Nelda Jean Phillips, 73, of Houston, formerly of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bennie Hagan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
She passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at her home in Houston.
Nelda was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Brownwood, Texas, the daughter of William and Pernie (Carter) Lancaster. She was a graduate of Early High School. She was the owner of several businesses in the Houston area, where she had lived since 1969, and a member of the Second Baptist Church in Houston. Nelda married Fred Phillips on June 16, 1969, in Odessa, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Phillips, of Houston; sons, Tom Sikes and wife, Donna, of Brownwood and Fred Wayne Phillips Jr. of Dallas; brothers, Charles Lancaster of Houston, Tim Lancaster of San Angelo and Worth Lancaster of Keller; sisters, Ruth Gilbert of Odessa, Wilma Boyd of Early and Peggy Hagan of Cisco; grandchildren, Thomas Sikes Jr., Tami Gibson and Kayla Sikes; step-grandchildren, Dawn, Michelle and Brandy Phillips; and three great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosa Lee Laughlin; great-grandson, Maddox Yaghobi; stepson, Mike Phillips; stepdaughter, Kay Farrar; and step-grandchildren, Shane Phillips and Charity and Jason Farrar.
