Virginia Bishop, age 91, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday Oct. 7, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ with Roland Bowen and Ernest Covey officiating. Burial will be at the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. Family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Virginia was born on Dec. 22, 1916, in Brown County to Norman Jack and Effie Burns Jack. On Aug. 18, 1935, she married Aden Bishop in Brownwood. She was the owner and operator of Virginia’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years, she was a homemaker, and loved art, she enjoyed oil painting and china painting which she had continued to do up to the last few months. She also enjoyed knitting, and rock hunting with her husband Aden and her grandsons. She was a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ, where for 20 years she volunteered cooking meals for families’ funerals. She had been a resident of Brownwood all of her life.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy King and husband Bill of Early; four grandchildren, Janet Fritsch and husband Rick, Linda Pedde and husband Ron, Joe King and wife Kelly, and Scott King and wife Janessa; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Aden Bishop; parents, Norman and Effie Jack; son, Jack Bishop; and granddaughters, Keri Lea King and Kay Lyn King.
