Steve McHorse, 79, of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday July 17, 2007 in Abilene.
A lifetime resident of Brownwood he was born on May 26, 1928, to James and Sue McHorse. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1947 and then served in the United States Navy for four years. He married Barbara Stuteville on June 24, 1951, in Brownwood; he was a member of Central United Methodist Church and retired conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a longtime member of Brownwood Country Club where he was a very avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara McHorse of Abilene; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy McHorse of Blue Mound, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Karey Gail and Dan Morelock of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Amy Lunsford, Stefania Phipps, Lindsey Boswell, Shane McHorse and Kyle McHorse; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Macy McHorse; and two sisters, Ann Rouse and Dickie Vucasovick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday July 20, 2007, at the Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Torian and Brother Dale Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
