Services for Sallie Marie Taylor of Lamesa were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Second Baptist Church with Bro. Rush Coffman and Bro. Clifton Igo officiating and with Walter McCall assisting. Burial followed in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home of Lamesa.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home.

Sallie died on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at her residence. She was born on Nov. 28, 1934, in Donaldson, Ark., to Gus and Vida Bettis. She was married to Carl Raymond Taylor on March 28, 1950, in Santa Rosa, N.M. Sallie was an active member of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on several committees, and taught the junior high girls’ Sunday School class for several years.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Taylor of Lamesa; a daughter, Cindy Corley, and husband, Rick, of Lamesa; two sisters, Evelyn Martin of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Reba Hogg and husband, Vernon, of Brownwood; grandchildren, Traci Cox, and husband, Russell of Lamesa; Sheri Harris, and husband, Tracy, of Lamesa; Ami Brown, and husband, Jeff, of Norris, Tenn.; Amanda Vidrine, and husband, Kurt, of Abilene; great-grandchildren, Kaila Cox, and Kaden Cox of Lamesa; McKenna and Keller Harris of Lamesa; Kiran and Ellery Brown of Norris, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Rabbit Taylor, and wife, Bonnie, of Lamesa; sisters-in-law, Betty Beaird and husband, Stanley, of Magnolia, Ark.; Latrece Murphy and husband, Byron of Midland; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Taylor, parents Gus and Vida Bettis; sister Maxine Gartman; and great-grandchild, Kristen Cox.

The family suggests memorials to the Second Baptist Church of Lamesa, Home Health of Lamesa, Compass Hospice of Big Spring, and the Lamesa Chapter of Relay for Life.
