Funeral services for Melvin Douglas Fisher Jr., 42, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Austin Avenue Church of Christ with Willie Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at West Austin Church of Christ from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. He passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Brownwood.
Melvin was born Oct. 6, 1965, in Brownwood to Melvin and Tommie Henderson Fisher. He was a graduate of Brownwood High School. Melvin had worked as a personal caregiver for MHMR and as a security guard for Wal-Mart.
Always a happy person with a big heart, Melvin remained positive throughout his life and never complained. He was a people person who loved life and being around family.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, August Fisher of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Antonique McDonald of Corpus Christi and Aschleť Fisher of San Angelo; his mother, Tommie Govan of Brownwood; one granddaughter, Alayah Davis of Corpus Christi; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Samuel Govan; and grandparents, Tom and Gladys Henderson.
All arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Kirk Mortuary in Coleman.
