SAN SABA — Funeral services for Manuel Soto Sr., 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Rodney Pate and Assistant Pastor Russell Lambert officiating.
Burial will follow at the San Saba City Cemetery under direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died June 27, 2007, at Universal Hospice in Fort Worth.
He was born June 3, 1930, to Jose Maria Soto and Ysidra Medellin at Gibbons Ranch, Richland Springs.
Survivors include seven brothers, Jose Maria (Chema) Soto of California, Jesse (Chuy) Soto of Fort Worth, Tony Soto of Plainview, Juan (Johnny) Soto of Midlothian, Roberto (Bobby) Soto of Richland Springs, Tomas (Tommy) Soto of Richland Springs and Daniel (Danny) Soto of Brownwood; four sisters, Felicita Hernandez of Dimmitt, Dora Soto of Petersburg, Helen Elena Martinez of Fort Worth and Monica Saldivar of San Saba;
Pauline Soto, the mother of his children Manuel Soto Jr. of Liberty Hill and Janie Jacobs of Leander; Vicki Marek, the mother of his children Victor Soto, Anita Morgan, Johnny Ray Soto and Rhonda Hammitt, all of Grand Prairie; his wife Chavela, the mother of his children Joe Rangel and Erma Monroe, both of Fort Worth; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Juanita Gonzalez Soto; three brothers, Jesse M. Soto, Pedro Soto and Jose Angel (Shorty) Soto; and four sisters, Delia Soto, Maria Montalvo, Flaudia (Flora) Guzman and Estella Acevedo.
The family requests memorial contribution to the Christian Children’s Fund.
