Memorial services for Tony Valdez, 43, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Valdez passed away on Sept. 7, 2009, in Brownwood, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Tony Valdez was born on Feb. 7, 1966, in Fort Worth to the late Antonio Valdez Sr. and Guadalupe Lopez. He was a loving son, a wonderful husband and devoted father. Tony met his soul-mate Ida Celaya Valdez in the eighth grade at Stanton Junior High in Hereford, Texas. They were married on June 17, 1982. Tony and Ida started their family in April of 1983 having their first daughter, Veronica Lee Valdez; their only son, Antonio Celaya Valdez Jr.; and their youngest girl, Valerie Lee Valdez.
After being married 25 years, he became a proud grandfather to Kaylie Marie Valdez and Alexis Rose Cox; and step-grandfather to Kayden Will Cox.
He is also survived by his son-in-law Kenneth Ouchi and daughter-in-law Kristian Cox, all of Brownwood; his godson, Genaro Banda Jr. (Bigboy); brothers and sisters-in-law Tommy Valdez and Jennifer Rogers and Florentino and Teresa Valdez; sisters and brother-in-law Juanita V. Romero and Manuel Zapata, and Victoria Sue McDonald, all of Comanche, and Victoria Ana Valdez of Brady. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Jessie and Maria Celaya, Angie and Danny Balderaz, Nikki Garcia, and Minnie Rivera all from Hereford and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Valdez Sr. and Guadalupe Lopez; godson Andre Compos Jr. and a brother-in-law Jessie Celaya Jr.
