Jerry Dean Lancaster, 61, of May, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Rising Star, Texas, with David Pate officiating. Burial will be in the Wolf Valley Cemetery in Brown County, Texas, with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star in charge.
Jerry was born on Nov. 14, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas, to Arthur Howard and Velma Doris Beck-Lancaster of Rising Star, Texas. He is a high school graduate of May, Texas. He is a lifelong employee of Brownwood Manufacturing in which he will not be forgotten anytime soon. The stories that have been told of the times that his blood sugar was low and all of the hoping, hollering and running around and other employees chasing him down to eat some peanut butter crackers. He was an avid hunter, even in the bar ditches with a truck. He was also an avid fisherman of catfish and bass. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Brian Lancaster and his wife, Mandi of Abilene; three daughters, Traci Goin and her husband, Sam of Aubrey, LaVonda Lancaster of Denton, and Mary Ann Lancaster of Brownwood; mother, Velma Lancaster of May; brother, Wayne Lancaster of Early; sister, Sue Ryan of West Fork, Ark.; stepson, Nahum Mendoza of Brownwood; stepdaughter, Joann Wagner of Judsonia, Ark.; four grandchildren, Anthony and Taylor Lancaster of Abilene, and Jack and Hanna Goin of Aubrey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Howard Lancaster.
The family will have visitation at the funeral home at 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 803 N. Main St., Rising Star, Texas.
