Don W. Callaway Sr., 64, of Lubbock, Texas, and formerly of Brownwood, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 18, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at The Feed Store Church in Santa Anna, Texas, with his son-in-law Jason Studdard officiating.
Don W. Callaway was born Oct. 28, 1945, in Lubbock, the son of C.D. and Loretta Callaway. He was married to Carol Denton of Brownwood on Sept. 21, 1963, and they had been married for 47 years at the time of his death.
Mr. Callaway was a certified machinist and welder. For 10 years he served on staff at the Texas Youth Commission in Brownwood.
Besides his wife, he is survived by their six children, Donna Stinnett of Irving, Jamie Barnum and husband Bobby of Brownwood, Shelly Callaway of Brownwood, D.J. Callaway and his wife, Cheryl, of Brownwood, Jodie Studdard and husband Jason of Early, Derek Callaway of Brownwood; one brother, Gary Callaway and wife Edith of Lubbock; one niece Crystal Stacker; one nephew, Christopher Callaway of Austin; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Aidrean Westbrook-Moreno.
