Alfred Stewart Lappe, age 89, of Brownwood, died Sunday afternoon at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Hughes, Joe Hughes and Donnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park.

He was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Blanket, Texas, the son of Frank and Lillie Mae Stewart Lappe. He graduated from the Blanket School in 1936. He married Muriel Parsons at Blanket on June 6, 1952. He has been a resident of Brownwood since the early 1950s and worked for the Banner Dairy, Foremost Dairies, Howard Harlowe Oil Company, and later retiring from PF& E Oil Company. He was an active member of the Vine Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Muriel Lappe of Brownwood; two sons, Ronnie and Donnie Lappe of Brownwood; two nieces, Clotozell Gunter of Wichita Falls and Darlene Phillips of Iowa Park; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Newell Parsons; and his sister-in-law, Dorthy Goodgion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Flossie Stovall; and an infant daughter, Anita Gail Lappe.
