BURLESON — Shirley Scott Gwin, 74, of Burleson, a homemaker, died Thursday Aug. 13, 2009, in Fort Worth. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Shirley was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Coleman to Jessie Lee Sr. and Clennie Mae Dunham Scott. She was married to John Hubert Gwin on Sept. 15, 1951, in Coleman. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood. She enjoyed playing the piano, loved her grandkids and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jessie Lee Scott Jr.; and a sister, Becky Scott.
Survivors include her husband, John Hubert Scott of Burleson; son, Michael Gwin and wife LaDara of Burleson; daughter, Johnnie Jolene Edwards and husband, Gary of Kyle; sisters, Geneva Bryan of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Rosa Lee Meeks of Brownwood; grandchildren, RaeAnn, Cailie, Hayden, Shawn, Holli, Stephen and Christopher; and numerous extended family members.
