Graveside funeral services with military honors for James William “Jimmy” Sitterson, age 87, of Brownwood, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, in Eastlawn Memorial Park with Jerry Evans and John Delarosa officiating under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 7 on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Sitterson passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1919, in Grimesland, N.C., to George and Ethel Vail Sitterson. He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army 2nd Field Artillery Observation Battalion. He served in the European and African Theaters and was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Laverne Bishop on Dec. 1, 1942, in Santa Anna. She passed away on Feb. 19, 2002.
Jimmy was a route salesman for Dr Pepper Bottling Company for 35 years before retiring. He later worked in maintenance for West Texas Printing. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and longtime member of Southside Baptist Church.
Jimmy is survived by a daughter, Sandra Alexander and husband Roy of Brownwood; two grandsons, Branon Evans and wife Amber of Brownwood and Hayden Evans, and wife Alexa of Lufkin; a great-grandson, Dawson Evans of Brownwood; and two great-granddaughters, Jensyn Evans of Brownwood and Ryleigh Evans of Lufkin; special nieces and nephew, Patsy Delarosa and Sherry Graham, both of Brownwood, and Harvey Dodson of Abilene; and a special cousin, Barbara Lawrence of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five sisters, and a brother, all of North Carolina.
