SANTA ANNA - Graveside services for Robert ‘Bob” Slusher, 78, of Odessa will be 2:30 p.m. today at the Stewardson Cemetery with the Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna was in charge of arrangements.

He died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at his home.

He was born on March 20, 1930, in Corning, Mo., to Rhessa and Mona Schweers Slusher. On Sept. 2, 1950, he was married to Helen Joan Day in Wichita Falls. He graduated from Rockport High School, attended Air Force Military Schools, and served as an Air Force instructor.

After Service in Okinawa, Bob worked off-shore as a wireline service operator, and transferred to Odessa in 1956. In the ensuing years, Bob operated a rental company, bought and restored a Coleman County ranch, and retired from General Tire and Rubber Company after 29 years.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Slusher of Odessa; children, Monte and wife Shelia Slusher, Susan Duckworth, Sherry and husband Chip Short, Mitch Slusher, Sandy and husband John Bradford all of Odessa; grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother, Leon Slusher; and son-in-law, Ronnie Duckworth.
