Funeral services for Clyde B. “C.B.” Alexander, age 64, of Bangs, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Bangs First Baptist Church with Lee Evans and Ruben Packer officiating. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
C.B. died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, in an Abilene hospital.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1942, in Bangs to Clyde and Lena Alexander. He resided in Bangs for his lifetime where he served his community through the Bangs Volunteer Fire Dept., Bangs City Council, Bangs ISD Board of Trustees, Mayfest Committee, and the Bangs Food Pantry. He also dedicated 12 years as mayor of the City of Bangs. He retired after 25 years of service with Sears and Roebuck Company. He was a member of the Bangs First Baptist Church.
C.B. married Lorena Pate, his high school sweetheart, on June 9, 1962, in Bangs. Together they raised a family of three: a son Chris Alexander and his wife Rhadonna of Mt. Vernon, two daughters, Melissa Calaway and husband Mark of Bangs and Cillena Guthrie and husband Rodney of Bangs.
He is also survived by sisters, Ida Crumley and husband Hal of El Paso and Lee Davenport and husband Ed of Dallas, brothers, Guy Alexander and wife Mary Ann of Brownwood, Marion Alexander and wife Jeannette of DeSoto, and Charles Alexander of Bangs; his in-laws, Jim and Jessie Austin of Carrollton, William Pate of Bangs, Jodie Pate of Haltom City, and Teressa Dill of Bangs; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all of who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, L.P. “Pete” Alexander.
The family requests memorials be made to the Bangs Food Pantry or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
