Wanda Jean Griffith, 74, of San Angelo, went to begin her life with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, after an extended illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Angelo Bible Church with the Rev. Jim Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Johnson’s Funeral Home of San Angelo is in charge of arrangements.
Jean was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Burkett, Texas, to Hester and Edith Copeland.
Jean worked in various capacities as a hairdresser, in a real estate office and was an excellent homemaker. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, loved flowers and loved to be with family and friends. She loved playing with her pets Missy and Crickett. Jean was a devout Christian and attended Angelo Bible Church.
Jean was married to Joe Griffith on Aug. 14, 1954, in Brownwood, Texas, and they were married for 55 years. They lived all over the world and retired to San Angelo after Joe’s military career.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her baby sister.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Griffith of San Angelo; two sons, Randy Joe Griffith and wife Taresia of Merkel and Johnny Lee Griffith and wife Kathy of Copperas Cove; two sisters, Bettie Bennett and husband Bennie of San Angelo, and Cherri Tedford of Brownwood; one brother, Clenton Copeland and wife Lila of Bangs; two granddaughters, Shanda and Rajeanna Griffith; one grandson, Jason Monroe and wife Mary; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Brandon Monroe; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Liz Shary and Chris Carter.
