Jack W. Bruce, 61, of College Station passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Jack was born April 8, 1947, in Temple, Texas, to Charlie and Thelma Bruce. He was a graduate of Brownwood High School and attended Howard Payne College before serving in the U.S. Navy for four years. Jack was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, having served two separate tours in 1967 and 1969. After returning from service in Vietnam, he spent most of his life in law enforcement, retiring as an employee of the State of Texas in 2000. He is a member of the Benchley Church of Christ in Benchley, Texas.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Charlie Bruce, and one sister Bobbie Tabor.
Survivors include his wife Judy and son Cody of College Station; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Larry Sanders of Lytle, Texas; one brother, Dow Bruce of Temple, Texas; two nephews and a niece of Fort Worth; and a nephew of Decatur, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Benchley Church of Christ.
