Funeral services for Roy Calvin Knight, age 85, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Early, Texas, with Eddie Allshie officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

He died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, in Brownwood, Texas.

Calvin was born on Sept. 13, 1925, in Crowley, Texas, to William Joseph and Mary Ethel (Knox) Knight.

He was married to Pauline Priscilla (Kepner) Knight on Aug. 20, 1947, at Hampton Place Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Calvin graduated from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Calvin enjoyed Ministry work and it became his passion, therefore he also received his ordination into Ministry from Southwest Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather and served honorably in the United States Navy, in which he earned several awards. Calvin also enjoyed being with his family, and will be remembered as a war hero by many.  

Survivors include his daughter; Susan Nisbet and husband Mike of Richardson, Texas; a son, Paul Knight of Round Rock, Texas; seven grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Knight; and his wife, Pauline Knight.
