Ann Cockrell, a resident of Grand Prairie, passed away in Arlington after a short illness on Feb. 26, 2008. Ann was born May 1, 1930, in May, Texas, in Brown County to Louis and Rosey White. She was married to Burl Cockrell on Jan. 15, 1949. Ann was a member of Fairview Baptist Church of Grand Prairie. She was a wonderful cook, doting and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, fondly known as ‘“Nana.’” Ann was loved and adored by family and friends. Ann was preceded in death by husband, Burl; and siblings, Lawrence White, Herman White, Odessa Modgling, Zelma Routh, Troy White and Thermon White; and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Cockrell.
Survivors: She was a devoted mother to Pam and Fred Hughes of Zephyr, Shirley and Don Cook of Fort Worth, Mike and Dawnie Cockrell of Arlington; grandchildren, Cindy and J.R. Hames, James and Melinda Hughes, Jennifer Taylor, Stacy and Michael Freund, Joseph and Sarah Cook, Stephen, Buddy and Petey Griffin; great-grandchildren, Blaine and Shea Hughes, Ryan and Grayden Hames, Preston and Madeline Taylor; surviving siblings, Jesse White and wife Jo of Alabama, and Wilburn White and wife Andrea of Zephyr, Texas; sisters-in-law: Reba White of Skidmore, Texas, Dorothy White of Taft, Texas, Marilynn White of Lewisville, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood, Texas. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery in Zephyr, Texas.
