Graveside services for Charles Ray Lindsey, 85, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Clear Creek Cemetery with Brother Bill Dodd officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Netherton Funeral Home.

He passed away Thursday morning at a local nursing home.

Ray was born March 19, 1922, in Mesquite, Texas, the son of John and Belle (Patterson) Lindsey. He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1959 and was a Baptist. Ray was retired from Mobil Oil. He was involved for many years in the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant Scoutmaster and as a Scoutmaster. He spent many hours improving the Scouting facilities in Brown and surrounding counties. Ray married Miriam Camp on Sept. 1, 1942, in Greenville. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, David Scott Lindsey of Brownwood; daughter, Judy Kelley of Early; brother, Robert Lindsey of Mesquite; three grandchildren, Keven Kelley and wife, Sarah, Jeff Nix and wife, Heather, and Ramona Montellano and husband, Robert; great-granddaughter, Erin Montellano; great-great-grandson, Robert Allan Wilbourn; and special family member Dale Nix.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Charles Stanley Lindsey; and daughter, Jo Ann Nix.

The family requests memorials be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the National Cancer Society.
