DE LEON — Memorial services for Dorothy Geneva Smith Horton, 77, of De Leon, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Bangs Church of Christ with Michael Light officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home in De Leon.
Family visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
She died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at her home.
She was born April 15, 1930, in Rockwood to Dee Severe and Ruby Jane Burson Smith. On July 1, 1947, she married Terrell Graham Horton in Brown County. She was a homemaker, and had resided in De Leon since 1987. She was a member of De Leon Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Geneva Hall of De Leon, Terry LaFon and husband Tommy of Bluff Dale, Corlis Stewart and her husband Alvin of De Leon and Janie Pruitt and her husband Wayne of Bluff Dale; two sons, Travis Horton and wife Sharon of Austin and Johnny Horton and wife Mary of Fort Worth; two brothers, Nathan Smith and wife Nelda of Red Oak and Gary Smith and wife Lois of Stephenville; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Casey, Jason, Ben, Will, Amber, Clint, Randal, Sarah, Thomas and Danny; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell Horton, great-grandson Peyton Kern, and sisters Joyce Hance and Pauline Blair.
