GOLDTHWAITE - Funeral services for Richard C. Smith, 71, of Mullin, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

He died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at his home.

He was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Brownwood, to Clarence Edgar Smith and Dorothy (Medcalf) Smith. He was married to Pam Dabney on Jan. 17, 1961, in Mullin. He worked as a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was member of the First Baptist Church in Mullin.

Survivors include his son, Chris Smith of Goldthwaite; three daughters, Evy King and husband Jerry of Zephyr, Cheri Moseley and husband Jim of Mullin and Theresa Thorne and husband Troy of Stephenville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Smith and wife Rusty of Mullin and Jimmy Smith of Mullin; and sister, Margaret Kerby and husband Joe of Zephyr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Smith, and sister, Lena Fay Sims.
