Elizabeth M. “Beth” Hale Roberts, 78, of Marble Falls passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, with her family at her side. She was born July 20, 1931, in Brownwood, Texas, the second of five children. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Beth met and married a young sailor, Gerald J. Hale, in 1949. Beth was a typical Navy wife who moved her growing family many times to numerous Naval Stations including Sangley Point in the Philippine Islands. After 22 years, Jerry retired and moved the family to Zephyr, a small community in central Texas. Beth was widowed in 1961 when Jerry died in an auto accident.

Beth and the “Kids” did everything together. There was church, Scouts, sports, horses, trips, bicycles, exploring Blanket Creek and more. You name it, they did it. When the kids got older, Beth went to work at T.G.&Y. She followed a new store opening to Georgetown, where she met Charles P. Roberts, an HEB Market Manager.

Charles made her his famous Beef Stew and that’s all it took. Beth and Charles were married in 1977 and began their life together house hunting and renovating. Beth loved looking at house plans and Charles loved to build things. They retired to the Hill Country and settled in Marble Falls in 2001.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and L. D. Richardson; and a son, Paul Roberts.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Roberts; daughter, Jan Miles and her husband, O.J.; son, Fred Hale and his wife, Marylou; daughter, Teri Peulen and her husband, Ken; daughter, Debra Hale; son, Jerome Hale and his wife, Stacy; sisters, Joan Hinson and Avonell Singleton; brothers, Buddy Richardson and Edgar Richardson; grandchildren, Christy, Garyn, Miki, Celeste, Nicolette, Royal, Austin and Andie; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Molly and Susannah; her beautiful cat, Poogie.
