Memorial services for Robert Merkler, age 74, of Brownwood, formerly of Georgetown, Del., will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 , 2010, at the First Christian Church in Brownwood with Pastor Sterling Lentz officiating. Services and cremation are under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

    Mr. Merkler passed away Monday morning, Nov. 29, 2010, in Brownwood.

    Robert James Merkler was born on Dec. 7, 1935, in Staten Island, N.Y., to Charles Merkler and Janet (Morrisey) Merkler. He was married to Madelon Alys Coussirat on Oct. 11, 1964, in Staten Island, N.Y. He had formerly lived in Lewes and Georgetown, Del., before moving to Texas to be close to family. Robert worked as an electrician and was a member of the American Veterans Post No. 28 in Delaware. He enjoyed cooking, bowling, and painting as well as square dancing and calling for the square dances.

    Robert is survived by his wife, Madelon Merkler of Brownwood; daughters, Karen Lynch and husband Frank of Brownwood, and Audrey Honegger and husband Carl of Stirling, N.J.; and grandchildren, Robert Lynch, Nicole Honegger, Jessica Lynch, Alex Honegger and Katie Honegger.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers and sisters.

    In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Lighthouse Hospice, 107-D South Park Drive, Brownwood, TX 76801, or the American Heart Association.
