Ruth Holcomb Wallace, 93, formerly of Brownwood, Texas, went home to the Lord Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Castle Rock, Colo., after a long decline in health.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood with the Rev. Michael Wallace and the Rev. Ben Brink officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.
Elnora Ruth Holcomb Wallace was born in Brown County, Texas, and was the daughter of Gaines Berry Holcomb and Bertie Marie Tongate Holcomb. She was married to William Houston (Buster) Wallace on Feb. 28, 1931, in Brown County, Texas. They were residents of the Whon Community before moving to Brownwood. Ruth worked for Montgomery Ward for a number of years.
Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bertie Mae Beier; and four brothers: Ernest Holcomb, Vernon Holcomb, Charles Holcomb and Walter Lee Holcomb.
She is survived by two daughters: Billie Stephenson and her husband C.W. of Tuscola, Texas; Nelda Brink and her husband Ben of Kiowa, Colo., and one son, Morris Wallace and his wife Rose from Palm Coast, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Gary Stephenson of Abilene, Texas, Barbara Kelley of Grapevine, Charles Wallace of Geronimo, Okla., Gordon Wallace of Melbourne, Fla., Michael Wallace of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Gina Ashcroft of Littleton, Colo., Dana Kaupie, Phoenix, Ariz., and Lisa Hayes of Kiowa, Colo. She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
