COLEMAN ó Services for Marilyn Darnell Johnson, 44, of Talpa and formerly of Cedar Creek, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Thomason officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ferris Akins and Rev. Mike Schwartz. The body will be cremated. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at her home.

She was born April 3, 1963, in Goldsboro, N.C., the daughter of Carl H. Darnell and Brenda Wallace Darnell. She grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. She received her Bachelorís Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and her Masterís Degree from the University of South Carolina. She was married to Tony Johnson on Feb. 21, 1990, in Charleston, W. Va. She was employed with the West Virginia Library Commission for 15 years and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission since 2001. She moved to Talpa in 2001 and was a member of the Texas Library Association and Wyldwood Baptist Church in Cedar Creek.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Johnson of Talpa; her parents, Carl and Brenda Darnell of Talpa; two stepsons, James Jerry Johnson and Tony Ross Johnson Jr., both of West Virginia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karla and Vinson Higginbotham of Talpa, and Cynthia and Tommy Thomason of Abilene; her grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
