RISING STAR — Graveside services for Willie Jo Brown, 73, of Rising Star, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in Amity Cemetery in Comanche County, Texas, with the Rev. David Pate officiating. Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star will be in charge of the arrangements. The family visitation will be held today, from 6-7 p.m. at the Higginbotham Funeral Home, 803 North Main, in Rising Star, Texas.
Willie passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at a local nursing home in Rising Star, Texas.
Willie was born on March 29, 1936, in Rising Star, Texas, to Harold J. and Sally Marie Bennett-Brawner. She was married to Jackie W. Brown from May, Texas, on June 26, 1954, in Rising Star at the First Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a graduate of Rising Star High School, attended nursing school at St. Phillips College in San Antonio, and Medical Assisting at VTI Academy in Irving, Texas, where she graduated. She worked in the medical field as a medical assistant and X-ray tech, and was employed by the Arlington Minor Emergency Clinic, and retired in 1997, and moved back to Rising Star, Texas.
She is survived by her two sons, Weldon Brown and his wife, Dianne of Rising Star, and Tommy Brown of Rising Star; two sisters, Betty Harding of Abilene; Dorothy Stewart of East Texas; seven grandchildren, Kenny, Stephanie, Wesley, Cody, Caleb, Jacob and Holli.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Helen Marie Williams.
