E. E. “Bunt” Mayer, age 71, of Comanche died Saturday evening at the Comanche County Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the family property adjacent to Board Church Cemetery with Brent Montgomery officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Logan Conway, Nolan Conway, Clint Ferrell, Darren Simpkins, Cliff Conway and Mike Cole. Honorary pallbearers are Noe Gonzales, Eddie Thorton and Gary Cross.

Euell Edward Mayer was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Hamilton County, the son of the late O. A. “Jack” and Vivian Young Mayer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving from 1954 until 1958, and later married Amy L. Faubion at Globe, Ariz., on Oct. 16, 1959. He was self-employed doing business as Mayer Appliance Service. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He had a love of music and especially loved playing with his family. His joys in life were his children and grandchildren.

His is survived by his wife, Amy L. Mayer of Comanche; three daughters, Dana Conway of Brownwood, and Fran Ferrell and Dixie Mayer, both of Comanche; and two brothers, Gary Mayer of Gore, Okla., and Randy Black of Kansas City, Mo. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his mother, Vivian Black; and his step-father, R. V. Black.
