On Nov. 4, 2007, Lavella Hunter left her earthly home to dwell in the House of the Lord forever. For this, we rejoice and look forward to a grand reunion.

Lavella was a member of First Baptist Church in Bangs. She had the pleasure of working as a caregiver at Twilight Nursing Home for many years.

Lavella was born May 19, 1925, in Gas City, Okla., to Marvin and Edna Rather. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jim Hunter in 1975, and Bobby Herndon in 1998, her parents, one sister, four brothers and one step-grandson.

Lavella is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Charlie Gravell of Bangs; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Hunter of Bangs, Dwight and Kelley Hunter of Crews, and Michael Hunter and Nancy Helms of Coleman; one stepdaughter, Debra New; three stepsons, Doug Herndon and wife, Eva, Charles Herndon and wife, Carol and Gary Herndon. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Lavella will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Salem Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.
