COLEMAN - Funeral services for Geneva “Gene” Frances Howard, 82, of Luling, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Henderson Funeral Home in Coleman with Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Stacy Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the Oak Creek Nursing & Rehab in Luling.

She was born in Stacy, to John F. and Lillie Catherine (Johnson) Powell. She grew up in Stacy where she attended schools and graduated from Doole High School.

On Aug. 13, 1943, she was married to John Meredith Howard in Gouldbusk.

She was a member of the Baptist church and a homemaker. She was a resident of Coleman until 1967, moving to Kilgore then Luling.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Howard of Luling; a daughter, Jana Sue Kinsey of Lockhart; two sons, Bobby M. Howard of Repton, Ala., Jerry W. Howard of Austin; brother, Maurice Powell of Dimmit; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
