Calvin Frank Evans, age 83, of Blanket passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Day and the Rev. Jim Looby officiating. Interment will follow in the Blanket Cemetery.

Calvin was born on May 5, 1924, in Blanket to Frank and Fay Andrews Evans. He graduated from Blanket High School in 1942. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the D-Day invasion on Normandy Beach. Calvin received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Good Conduct Medals.

He married Valree Wall on Nov. 2, 1950, in Richmond, Texas.

Calvin worked for Shell Oil Co. in Houston and Phillips Driscopipe in Brownwood before retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Blanket.

He is survived by his wife Valree Evans of Blanket, a son, Dr. Rick Evans and wife Cindy of Brownwood; two daughters, Judy Lee and husband Robert of Plano and Golda V. Graff and husband Paul of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Lexi and husband Dr. Lee Droemer of Dallas, Chad Evans and wife Jessie of Pecos, Leslie Lee of Plano, Chris Evans of San Angelo, DeLee Landrum of Bridgeport, Sherry Scheidt and husband Henry of Bridgeport, Troy Murray and wife Vicki of Grand Saline; two step-grandchildren, Frank Graff of Fort Worth and Harold Graff and wife Sherri of Tyler, three great-grandchildren, three sister-in-laws, Merilyn Evans of Santo, Mary Law of Pittsburg, Ruth Massey of Amarillo, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Cate, and a brother, Dennis Evans.

Calvin was a devoted husband and father, and was the best Paw Paw ever. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but is resting in the hands of the Lord.
