Funeral services for William “Butch” Goble Jr. age 57, of Brownwood, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Goble died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Butch was born on Feb. 14, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas to William and Billie (Buck) Goble. He attended Texas Tech University before joining the U.S. Army where he served from 1971 to 1981. While serving at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga., Butch was married to Susan Wloshinski on Oct. 22, 1977. From there, they served in Germany for three years. Following his military career, Butch went to work for the Postal Service in Lubbock. In 1987 he moved his family to Brownwood and worked for the Brownwood Post Office until his retirement in 2004. In retirement he started a new career of ranching, fishing, and hunting at his ranch. His cows, chickens, and garden kept him happily occupied. He kept family and friends well supplied with fresh vegetables and eggs.
Butch is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan, of Brownwood; two daughters, Tina Goble of Brownwood and Tabatha Goble of Belton; a grandson, Dylan; mother, Billie Goble of Lubbock; two brothers, Jim Godby of Denver, Colo., and Robert Goble of Lubbock; and sister, Sandra Hill of Charlotte, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Goble; and a granddaughter, Skye.
Pallbearers will be Robert Goble, Jimmy Godby, Jason Goble, Tommy Chrestman, Johnny Loveless and Larry Scott.
