EASTLAND — Johnnie Honea, 78, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Abilene.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Eastland City Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. There was no visitation.
Johnnie was born Nov. 27, 1932, to Floyd and Alma (Poe) Honea in Eastland, Texas. He proudly served his country in the Korean War while in the U.S. Army. He was married to the love of his life Florine Huffman on Feb. 24, 1956 in Cisco, Texas. Johnnie worked at Hollywood Vasseritte for 25 years as head mechanic and Lone Star Gas Co. for 16 years until he retired as a gas plant operator until he retired. Johnnie loved to do his dirt work, hunt, fish and spend time with family. He really enjoyed his three amigos time. Johnnie loved to spend time with his beloved friend Peggy Robinson, as well.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. Ricky Honea and Vickie Honea of Lubbock, Wayne Honea of Eastland and daughter, Debbie Jernigan and husband Bryant of Brownwood; grandchildren, Ricky Jr. Honea and wife Danielle of Lubbock, Brody Honea of Eastland, Alisha Whitehead and husband Allan of Roswell, N.M., Casey Moore and husband Sean of Brownwood, Mary Lucier and husband Joshua of Brownwood, Ryan, Travis, Tasha, Kinzi, Josh, and Annaston Jernigan of Brownwood; eight great-grandchildren; brother, and Red Honea and wife Lovell of Ranger Texas; sisters, Sarah Gailey and husband Byron of Strawn, Texas, Margaret Duggan and husband Nickie of Waxahachie, Texas, Linda Jennings of Cleburne Texas; also numerous other family members and a whole host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife (Flo) and parents (Floyd and Alma).
