Mary Ruth Ward, age 80, of Brownwood, Texas, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

    Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Bangs Church of Christ with Michael Light officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Heartland Funeral Home.

    Mary Ruth Bizzell was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Iraan, Texas, the daughter of the late John Paul and Cleora Clatie Phillips Bizzell. After she graduated high school, she attended Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth where she attained her associate degree. Mary was married to Frank Ward in Fort Worth on April 21, 1949, were married for 60 years and the love of each other’s life. She attended Bangs Church of Christ. Mary was a woman of many interests. She loved the piano, liked to dance, acting in plays, fishing, crossword puzzles – really any word games – and she liked to play video games. She was an excellent swimmer, rode on a moped and a golf cart, and she loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys. She and Frank had lived in Brownwood since 1982. She was the first woman division land manager ever and worked for Bellco Petroleum, retiring a few months after Frank retired from Gulf Petroleum.

    Survivors include her husband, Frank Ward of Brownwood; son, Dusty Ward and wife Jerri Ann of Lake Brownwood; three daughters, Debbie Testa and husband Joe of Garland, Diann Tucker and husband Tommy of South Lake, and Dayna Dugger and husband Scott of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren, Devin and Kinsie Ward, Misty Owens, Tracy Newton, Paul and David Logan, Tyler Fleetwood, Kasey, Kirstie and Kerry Dugger; and six great-grandchildren, Deborah, Cody, Kile, Aren, Granger and Falon.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Paul Bizzell Jr.
