DE LEON — Funeral services for Adell Woodford “Woodie” Powell Jr., 79, of De Leon will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at De Leon Church of Christ, with Bro. Geoff Litke and Bro. Bennie Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow in De Leon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, at Nowlin Funeral Home.

He died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Comanche County Medical Center.

He was born March 16, 1930, in Wylam, Ala., to Adell Woodford Powell Sr. and Iva Elizabeth Howard Powell. He was married to Frances Richmon on Feb. 17, 1950, in De Leon. He was a custom farm contractor operator and a member of the De Leon Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Francis Powell of De Leon; three sons, Garry Powell of De Leon, Roy Powell of San Angelo, and Ronald Powell of De Leon; sister, Vivian Wooldridge of Tyler; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Imogene Davis.
