Virginia (Ginny) “Aunt G. G.” Whitworth, age 88, of Brownwood, died at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center on Sunday evening, Aug. 10, 2008.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenleaf Cemetery with Ruben Packer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Thomas J. and Irene M. Knox Crilley. She married Elmo Mann in 1958. He preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Roger Whitworth who also preceded her in death.
She worked as a nurse’s aide most of her life and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1942.
She is survived by a nephew, Tony Gerniglia of Sangus, Mass.; two nieces, Willena Benson and her husband Dennis of Brownwood and Dottie Best also of Brownwood; numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
She is also survived by some very special dear friends including Bonnie and Dale Sides, Barbara and Jim Kingston, Frankie and the Rev. James Hogan, and many others whom she loved from Rocky Creek Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, and her husbands.
