BURNET - James Bert “Jim” Bennett, 84, of Abilene, Texas, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in Burnet.

Private services and burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.

He was born May 28, 1924, in Talpa, to Wayne Bennett and Lorena (Simmons) Bennett. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the 99th Infantry Division that fought during the Battle of the Bulge. He is a former FBI agent.

Survivors include a James B. Bennett Jr. and his wife Carmen of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Janet E. Cravey and her husband Terry of Burnet; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Russell Bennett.
