Funeral services for Troy Marcel “Marc” Coleman, 86, of Brownwood, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Torian officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marc passed away on Monday evening, June 11, 2007, in a Brownwood nursing facility.

He was born in Coleman to Fred and Minnie Craig Coleman. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1939. Marc served his country in World War II as a sergeant in the Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific, including Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Saipan, before being honorably discharged. He married Aleta Chambers on Nov. 16, 1946 in Coleman.

Marc’s working years were spent in the car business, most of those at Broncho Chevrolet in Odessa. In 1966, Marc moved his family to Brownwood, where he worked in the car business, worked at the Exxon bulk station, and ranched.

He was longtime member of Central United Methodist Church.

Marc is survived by his wife of 61 years, Aleta Coleman of Brownwood; two daughters, Gail Doerschuk and husband Paul of Brownwood and Jodell Galloway and husband Robert of Lumberton; six grandchildren, Merisha Parvis of Brownwood, Marie Grace and husband Les of Brownwood, Marc Galloway and wife Molly of Humble, Megan Galloway of College Station, Lori Reed and husband Jeff of Brownwood, and Lisa Beyerink and husband Brett of Dedham, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, George, Donald and Bobby Coleman, all of Farmington, N.M., and Jackie Coleman of Mineral Wells; three sisters, Peggy Heflebower of Midwest City, Okla., Becky Elkin of Irving and Nancy Coleman of Southlake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katie Pearl Coleman and Sue Love; and two brothers, Vernon Coleman and Gene Coleman.
