Ann “Granny Anny” Lee, age 80, of Lake Brownwood died Monday morning at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Early First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Ailshie officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Santa Anna, the daughter of William H. and Georgie Ann Story Hodges. She graduated from Howard Payne and taught at the Early Middle School for many years. She was married to Ray Donivan Lee on June 8, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1979. She was a lifelong resident of Early and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was the owner of Granny Anny’s Playhouse in Early for several years and known for her crafts and decorations. She also will be remembered as a No. 1 fan of the Early Longhorns, which she followed faithfully.
She is survived by her son, Robert Dalton Lee and wife Judy of Plano; two daughters, Donita Rae Watkins and husband David of Clyde and Beverly Ann Holleman and husband Bart of Early; grandchildren, Cliff Watkins and wife Elisha, Paige Hageman and husband Zach, Lexi Lee Droemer and husband Lee, Leslie Lee, Erika Holleman and Whitney Holleman; a sister, Billyne Tabor; niece, Barbara Hughes and husband Steve; nephews, Mark Tabor and wife Kim and Tommy Joe Hodges; and a great niece, Niki Novasad and husband Trey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Coleman Hodges.
